Notes

Is this a rattlesnake or gopher snake? It appears to be shedding its skin. The head was not in sight and the tail appears to maybe be injured.

I have been informed that this is a northern pacific rattlesnake crotalus oreganus oreganus.

Thanks Chris. I thought it was a rattlesnake once I got home and looked at the photos. I wasn't going to look up close in person.

Northern Pacific Rattlesnake. Tail is definitely injured... either run over by a bike/car or perhaps survived a predation attempt by a coyote/bobcat/raptor/human/etc.
