Notes
I spotted this huge lyre snake eating a medium large, adult female chuckwalla while searching a favorite roadcut with my friends Johnson J. and Joy I. The lizard appeared to already be dead, and the snake had just begun swallowing it, when we first came across the scene. We watched it for a few minutes, left it alone for a while, then came back and watched it finish swallowing the big lizard. This was the largest lyre snake I've seen. I estimate it was around 48" in total length.
