Notes

Not sure on sex, however the snake did seem to have a few broken scales from injuries, otherwise in good health. Upon release he streaked away nearly 2meters, came back about .25meters and looked curiously before whipping into a burrow hidden beneath the leaf litter.

Thanks, Brian, I was able to find it!

Yes, first one recorded in the database from that county. To figure out which one it is, just look up all the animals in the listings at left and click on them. A list will come up and the one that is the only one for that county will be your county record. Is that clear? I just did it for this record, and this is your county record.

Thanks for the tips, Brian!

I noticed when looking at the stats one of these first two entries I made and one was counted as a county record. I can't seem to figure out which one, just by looking at it. Additionally, what exactly does county record mean? Just first sighting in that county?

When you enter the lat and long, use the little wrench tool. Just click on it and dial down in the google earth picture to where you saw the animals. Road kills count too and will really increase your numbers in the database.

Great. I thought maybe you were trying to protect those snakes...but it is a good idea to restrict entries that are of a sensitive nature, I just didn't figure racers fell into that category. Glad to see you on board here. Try to enter as many as you can each year, and you can put your old sightings in too, as long as you have a voucher photo and remember where you saw them. Have fun.

Fixed, Brian. I just stumbled across this site and the forums yesterday and I am still learning how to use it. Both this and the coachwhip entry are edited to show county name.

Nice pics. No county name?
