Had rained about half an hour earlier. Saw large pile of debris (mostly small sticks) and thought "what will I find if I just dig in a little?" Six inches down, found this guy.
(realized that this technique probabaly isn't best for rattlesnake country, then remembered that I was in rattlesnake country. So that's why ya'all carry rakes.)
