Notes
Heard our cat cooing on the back patio and went out to investigate. She had a salamander on the slate patio and was tapping it with her paw. I took it inside and showed it to the rest of the household, then released it in dense ground cover (vinca and St Johns wort). Highly unusual to see a salamander in a dry residential yard in Eugene OR. I am kicking myself for not taking a photo. Size : ~2.5" snout to vent. Shape: thin and gracile, long thin tail, prominently bulging eyes. No obvious glands behind the eyes. Coloration: reddish-brown dorsal side, dull orange-tan underneath. No stripes, mottling or patterns visible.
