Notes
Where a short wooden bridge once existed over a seasonal creek, the snake was on the trail. It was maybe 2.5 feet long. I scooted it off the trail so the mountain bikers wouldn't run over it. It slithered away through poison oak and hid in a crevice at the base of a tree.
