Notes
Cell phone pics-
True to their m.o. in field guides, more brown snakes are found in this type of environment than under natural cover in more rural settings. This location is a vacant lot at the end of a cul-de-sac in an Industrial Park. One was found in a tar pile while 3 more were found under vinyl siding about 50ft away. 4 total found with minimal effort.
The first pic was of a big fat female- encorged with a fresh meal- most likely earth worms and slugs. The other pics were of smaller males all found under separate pieces of cover.
Common this time of year, they will get harder to come by as the summer draws near and the landscape dries up.
