Found just off the trail while crossing body drainage. If it hadn't jumped in the water I never would have seen it. I feel pretty lucky it didn't bury itself. My backpacking friends were surprised I was so excited to see it and actually stopped to take my pack off and take pictures. Since my friends were in a hurry to get to point B, I got the best picture I could of the frog and packed the camera away and continued on. The habitat picture was taken while we were taking a break before heading down there.
The first Rana I've ever seen in CA.
