There are two color pattern classes of the Diploid Checkered Whiptail in Colorado, and my evidence indicates that Pattern Class D was derived from Pattern Class C. Pattern Class D is of particular interest because it has been recorded from only a few localities centered south of La Junta--hence, my interest in where the photo was taken. -Harry Taylor
