This guy sure surprised me. I was close to 300 yards from the nearest water (a reservoir), it was already rather hot in the morning, and this isn't what you would call typical snapper habitat. The first habitat shot is where I found him, the second is the body of water he must have come from.

I should have said, "this girl", since it was probably a nesting female. I was really lucky to catch her on the trail like that.
