Notes

I watched this snake slowly poke its head at the bottom edge of small rocks for 15 minutes. I'm thinking it was looking for lizards sleeping at the edge or tucked under them. It stopped once it noticed me.

Snakes from this locale are lyrophanes, yet some display a divided anal plate, like this one here. I have observed this through out most of the Lower Elevation Colorado Desert Mtn. Ranges in Eastern Riverside and Imperial Counties.
