My son, Cole found this lizard while walking around camp. He spotted a strange-looking, gray rock, and with closer look thought it was a mouse, then shouted "horny toad!" once realizing what actually was found. A thrilling find, considering this is the lizard we hoped to see. Although we looked more, no other Salt Lake Valley Short-horned Lizard (Phrynosoma hernandesi ornatum) were seen.
