Notes
I reached down to flip a board that has produced nothing but ring-necked snakes so far and as I was reaching for the board, I spotted an adult copperhead coiled right next to where I was going grab the board. The first picture shows some of the other boards I have set out at that spot. The second picture shows the snake on the board I was going to flip when I found it. The third picture shows the snake in situ in the grass. The last picture shows the snake posed. This was also the first copperhead I have seen in eight years at this location. I use to see them frequently here. I'm not sure why they are so hard to find now.
