1 Individual was leucistic. Distinction between A. laterale and A. jeffersonianum was based on the fact that the site is outside of jeffersonianum range in VT, the fact that only Blue-spotted Salamanders had been seen at this site before, and on the following physical characteristics:
short, rounded snout
short toes
tail round in cross-section
