Dissapointing to find this dor, however, first record for Northampton for our database. Warrants further surveying. This disjunct population is considered intermediate between the northern and southern subspecies.

The ones on the southern Delmarva Peninsula are considered integrades by several authors... (White & White) slight differences in color/pattern.
Hey Kyle, in response to your comment, I've honestly never known what to consider the coastal VA and NC copperheads. Every one I've ever seen has been from an area where both subspecies are apparently sympatric. Based on your description of this specimen, I assume you would consider these intergrades? I will remove the subspecies label for the individuals I have entered. I just called them A. c. mokasen because the VA herpetological society website doesn't even list southerns as occurring in the state. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the subject, thanks.
