Another racer had been seen close to this spot about 10 minutes earlier, almost certainly not same one.
Specimen threatened to bite but did not do so. Liked to hide its head in its coils and when released, played dead for a few minutes before crawling off into a manzanita bush.
Sex determined by tail geometry after vent.
