I just know that aemula is named for its remarkable resemblance to Coniophanes piceivittis. The R. taeniata (taeniata) doesn't look like piceivittis.
I looked at a bunch of preserved aemula when I was working on piceivittis in a past life.
Wouldn't it be the other way around? Isn't aemula up norht???
These are all R. taeniata aemula, if you care about ssp.
