Found in a interesting location. I am no salamander expert, but this did not look like a garden salamander to me. Unfortunately, the pictures of this guy didn't turn out like I hoped..
Found close to the desert..

Well black bellies only occur in the Santa Ana mtns in Riverside county, and this was closer to palm springs...
I just entered a salamander from riverside county that looked very similar to this. I really think they look like black bellies. I spent a good amount of time comparing it to pictures and looking at the characteristics and it really seems like its a black bellied, so thats what I entered mine as. I'm waiting for corrections if i'm wrong though.
