Notes
Thirty-five redback salamanders were observed by 15 students and instructors (1 professor, 1 TA, 13 students) from Antioch University New England as part of a graduate level wildlife natural resource inventory class. Students were assigned to three 10x10 meter plots and completed a systematic observation of salamanders, flipping all leaf litter and logs in each square plot. Observation for these plots were 45 min, 36 min, and 30 min, and students found 7, 3, and 13 redback salamanders in each plot, respectively. While students completed plot sampling, the instructor and TA wandered around, flipping logs, and found 14 more redback salamanders. Of the 35 specimens found, 5 were erythristic.
