We found this snake with a recent meal in her stomach under a pile of thick plywood - put there by Jim Bass, who was with us when we found the snake.

That's interesting. I've always wondered how AC worked in the desert. That makes a lot of sense. Very cool...

Yes, it was a bit unusual. But Jim (hellihooks) who had put the pile there said that this was exactly the idea. He explained that it in the desert AC can work as long as you have enough layers. Because the pile was close to rocks, the speck could find it no problem and use it for shade. So, it goes all to Jim's credit.

I have never heard of finding a speck under artificial cover. Neat find!
